Organizing your tabs

Tabula uses Chrome’s tabs and tabGroups permissions to read tab information and organize, name, move, collapse, and ungroup tabs. Its sidePanel permission provides the searchable tab list. Storage keeps rules and preferences available between sessions.

Tabula has no backend server of its own and does not include advertising or analytics code.

When you choose to use AI

Direct AI calling is off by default. If you enable it, Tabula sends a generated prompt containing tab titles, domains and/or saved rules directly to Google’s Gemini API or a local endpoint you configure. It does not route the request through a Tabula-owned server.

Your API key, endpoint address, and token are stored in Chrome’s local extension storage and are not synced. The relevant destination permission is requested when you enable that method and released when it is disabled or switched.

If you use the manual copy-and-paste flow, the text you paste is handled by the AI service you choose. That provider’s privacy terms and usage charges apply.

Optional reminders

The off-by-default reminder requests alarms and notifications permissions only when enabled. It periodically checks how many tabs are ungrouped and can remind you to update your rules. This count is processed locally.

Closing old tabs

You choose when to close eligible old tabs. Pinned and active tabs are protected during this cleanup action.

This website

The demonstrations use example tabs. They do not read or modify your browser tabs, connect to your AI account, or make AI requests. This website does not add advertising or analytics scripts.
